Crushed aggregate is produced by crushing quarry rock, boulders, cobbles, or large-size gravel. Recycled concrete is a viable source of aggregate and has been satisfactorily used in granular subbases, soil-cement, and in new concrete. After harvesting, aggregate is processed crushed, screened, and washed to obtain proper cleanliness and gradation.
The main objective of this project was to evaluate the effects of using aggregate produced from crushed concrete pavement as a replacement for natural virgin coarse aggregate in pavement mixtures. A total of ten different concrete mixtures containing recycled concrete aggregate RCA were designed to meet the requirements of Indiana Department of Transportation INDOT specifications.
3. Results and Discussions 3.1. Crushed Aggregates Effects on Slumps of Concrete. The Figure 1 depicts slum value of A-1 coarse aggregates for all five groups.
